This February 2 we celebrate World Wetlands Day, an event that arises after the approval of the treaty regarding the consideration of wetlands as a matter of international importance, in 1971.
Wetlands are one of the most productive ecosystems in the world and provide a host of benefits that are fundamental to the preservation of life on earth, as they supply most of the planet's fresh water. In addition, another of its functions is to regulate the climate and hydrological regimes, helping to reduce pollution and mitigating the risk of natural disasters such as floods or droughts.
The loss of these ecosystems could have devastating effects on humanity. In Chile, for example, there are more than 40,000 wetlands that cover an approximate area of 4.5 million hectares, representing about 5.9% of the national territory.
In order to preserve them, at Hidronor we commemorate this important date by providing our comprehensive services in the treatment, management and safe disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste.
Let's promote sustainable management to contribute to biodiversity!
