Incorporating circular economy actions in production processes is one of the world's greatest goals for the near future, and in Chile we are committed to actions of this type in the different economic sectors of the country. 

In regard to plastic consumption, our country is evaluating and approving various regulations that will henceforth rule the use and consumption of this element, which conventionally comes from oil, and in most cases remains in the ecosystem for centuries (they are polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS, PET, among others). To make these more sustainable, there is an option in the market of creating them from vegetable products, like soybean oil, corn or potato starch and they’re called bioplastics.

Compared to conventional plastics, bioplastic emits between 0.8 and 3.2 tons less carbon dioxide per ton. In addition, some of them can become biodegradable and be disposed of as organic waste. However, their use implies energy savings in production, they do not contain additives that are harmful to human health such as phthalates or bisphenol A, and they do not modify the taste or fragrance of the contained food.

Alternatives of this type will help all of us have a more sustainable world. Let's promote their inclusion in the production processes of the future!
