The public sector recently agreed to set up a technical committee to adopt the necessary measures to reduce the processing time for permits required by mining investment projects by one third, without affecting compliance with environmental or other regulations.
Said body was formally constituted with the participation of representatives of the ministries of Finance, Economy and Environment; the Environmental Impact Assessment System; the National Geology and Mining Service (Sernageomin); the National Evaluation and Productivity Commission; the National Mining Society (Sonami) and the Mining Council.
The roundtable has 60 days to define budgetary, administrative and legal measures to speed up the processing of permits in mining projects, and in its first meeting the National Evaluation and Productivity Commission was assigned to create the baseline for permits, based on records official and corporate input, and monitor progress toward board goals.
As Hidronor we celebrate this initiative that will further strengthen this key industry for the Chilean economy, since we serve more than 85% of the companies of this type that operate in the country, accompanying them in the handling and management of the waste they generate, as well as such as the remediation and sanitation of land contaminated by said industry.
