Between January 15 and 19, the World Economic Forum (WEF) took place in Davos, Switzerland. This annual meeting brought together important global actors, who analyzed the world's key challenges, marked by the geopolitical tensions of recent years, but also by trends that will define the future, such as the decarbonization of the economy and Artificial Intelligence.
Along these lines, members of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), who represent a third of the global mining industry, reached a consensus that meeting the demand for critical materials should not be done at the expense of nature. Among the most important points of this agreement are the following:
- Collaborate along value chains: develop initiatives and partnerships that stop and reverse nature loss along supply and distribution chains.
- Catalyze broader change: act to change the fundamental systems that contribute to nature loss and foster opportunities for its recovery.
At Hidronor Chile we applaud this news and join these commitments that seek to advance towards a more sustainable mining industry. We have more than 25 years of experience, being leaders in the market for the management and treatment of industrial and hazardous waste through comprehensive and efficient environmental processes and solutions for the management of revaluation, treatment and final disposal of waste.
