At Hidronor we valorize this company's waste to convert it into alternative fuel.
Last Monday, December 2, at Hidronor we had the honor of participating in the Safety and Quality Day, organized by our client Sherwin Williams. In this activity, more than 200 employees from various areas, such as: Operations, Production and Quality, among others, gathered to learn more about waste management and the sustainability practices we carry out.
José Méndez, head of Telephone Sales Managers at Hidronor; and Daniela Mancilla, Hidronor Business Executive, detailed in depth the work we do with Sherwin Williams waste, highlighting that approximately 40% of the waste we remove from this client is destined for energy revaluation.
Waste recovery
As Mancilla explained, “the main waste we manage is both hazardous and non-hazardous, and comes mainly from remains of water-based and solvent-based paints, solvent-based paint scraps, and operational waste contaminated with solvents.”
Of this managed waste, -said the expert- “approximately 35% is revalued as alternative fuel. This is achieved in our Blending line, where liquid waste with calorific value, such as solvent-based paints and erasers, are processed to produce a liquid alternative fuel. This fuel is used as a replacement for conventional fuels in cement manufacturing processes, which contributes to more sustainable production.”
These types of initiatives reinforce our commitment to innovation in waste management and to the development of solutions that contribute to our clients in their efforts to be more responsible with the environment.
We continue to move towards a greener future!
