According to the Chilean environmental report carried out by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), released in July 2016, our country ranks second among those who send more garbage to landfills with 38 landfills, where they arrive around 7 million tons of household waste. This is an effective sanitary and environmental solution, but it is clearly not enough.
With the implementation of the recently enacted Recycling Law, the MMA (Ministry of the Environment) expects to increase this country's recycling rate to 30% in the next five years.
