Human activities and overcrowding, among other factors, have contributed to accumulating huge amounts of waste annually. therefore, landfills and open burning are more common every day, causing damage to the environment and diseases.
Poorly managed household waste can pose a constant risk to people's health, in addition to contaminating the soil, and can even affect drinking water. We must ensure that these must be managed in authorized landfills.
There are also other friendly alternatives that minimize the impact on the environment.
What should we do to find a clean solution to this problem?
Moving in the right direction involves taking general steps, also known as the three R's:
Reduce
in other words, stopping the problem before it exists, eliminating the source of the contamination.
Re-use
reuse discarded materials, which may be useful in different activities than they were originally for.
Recycle
use waste as raw material to produce new elements, such as paper, glass and aluminum.
