It is estimated that in the Metropolitan Region more than 4,500,000 tons of garbage are generated each year.
This is why, since 2017, it has operated a Regional Solid Waste Strategy, which, through the Santiago Recycle Program, supports and guides 52 municipalities to make their management more efficient in this regard.
Recently, the ten organizations that had the best results and sustainable impacts were selected over time to translate their experiences into a document that will serve to promote their good practices. One of them was the Municipality of El Monte.
The following note explains how this town of 35,000 inhabitants has managed to implement a plan that has involved the community across the board, obtaining excellent results.
