In order to address the challenges involved in the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility and Promotion of Recycling Law (REP Law), and the way in which companies should consider its effects and opportunities, on August 6 it was carried out carry out a virtual activity entitled "Advances in the implementation of Law Rep. No. 20,920", organized by the Association of Chemical Industries (Asiquim).
During the meeting, Fernando Varas, in charge of the REP Law of the Seremi de Medioambiente de la Región de Antofagasta, spoke about the progress of the implementation of this regulation. Juan also participated Andrés Salamanca, President of Asiquim zona norte and Manager of Sales and Hidronor Marketing, together with representatives of various companies in the field chemical. Attendees held an analysis of this new regulation that comes to redesign the approach to waste management in Chile, incorporating valorization as a fundamental element in the management of the circular economy.
This instance highlighted the importance of role played by the chemical industry in this scenario, in order to face the different challenges and opportunities of the implementation of the Rep Law for all actors in the waste management chain. What's more, emphasis was placed on the need to encourage a cultural change to manage properly waste in our country, which becomes a great window for new entrepreneurship opportunities, incorporation of new technologies and generation of more jobs.
