The management of waste in health establishments is a matter of vital importance, since each institution is responsible for having an adequate management plan for the waste generated during its processes, ensuring its disposal in safe and certified facilities that deliver compliance to the environmental and health requirements established by current regulations.
According to the waste management regulations of health care establishments, the waste that can be found is classified as: hazardous waste, low intensity radioactive waste, special waste and assimilable solid waste. The final disposition of these is essential to ensure the care of the environment and the health of people; since, when managing the waste in places authorized by the health authority, a correct elimination, reuse or recycling of the same is ensured according to their respective categorization.
