Of the total waste we generate in our homes, 58% corresponds to organic waste, such as food scraps or fruit peels, from which in Chile we only recycle less than 1%, wasting multiple benefits that can be obtained if they were recycled in a higher percentage (such as fertilizers, biogas, among others).
In view of this problem, the Ministry of the Environment gave know a proposal for the National Organic Waste Strategy (ENRO), the which is in the public consultation period until September 15, this year. The goal is to achieve the recycling of 66% of organic waste generated in the country by 2040, establishing intermediate goals by 2030 that support the fulfillment of this objective.
