In our country, household and industrial waste have a wide possibility of being valued through separation and recycling processes. This is why the Environment Commission of the Senate, has decided to advance with the law to promote recycling.
More than 50% of household waste is organic and they can be recycled through vermiculture, composting and gas production. This is why this bill mainly targets non-organic, sensitive or economic waste (batteries, paper, cardboard, plastics and metals), since in Chile we are on the amount of waste per capita with respect to to other Latin American countries.
For this to change and increase the percentage of recycling, municipalities, industries, companies, collectors and recyclers have a very important role to play.
