The Ministry of the Environment (MMA) recently presented details of the bill that seeks to promote the recycling of organic waste (such as fruit and vegetable waste) through a "vegetable waste recycling truck" or the delivery of compost bins to the citizenship, among other alternatives with the aim of increasing sustainability in the country and giving a break to landfills that are currently facing a space crisis at the national level.
To carry out this project, the municipalities will be responsible for providing door-to-door collection systems for plant remains, as well as the implementation of trucks specialized in organic recycling. The delivery of composting bins or vermicomposting bins for homes will also be promoted, along with the development of composting projects at the community or neighborhood level.
From the MMA they emphasize that this initiative represents a significant advance in the management of organic waste in Chile, with the potential to generate a positive impact both on the environment and on the quality of life of citizens.
