On October 28th, with the purpose of keeping the industry updated, a webinar on "Management of Sanitary Landfills: experiences, studies and impact" was held as part of the Cycle of Seminars on Sustainable Construction that the Austral University of Chile organizes aiming at different organizations and private companies.
The event was attended by more than 70 participants and the speakers were Patricio Yáñez Cárdenas, Executive Secretary of the Municipal Association of the Los Ríos Region for Sustainable Waste and Environmental Management; Marcel Szanto Narea, Academic at the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso; and Pierre Servanti Benfeld, Hidronor Chile Manager of New Businesses.
Among the different topics discussed, Pierre Servanti explained the latest data on waste generation in our country to those who were present, which reaches approximately 21 million tons each year and 35% of it comes from the construction sector.
In addition, he took the opportunity to detail the environmental and health regulations entering in force that govern the safe disposal of these wastes, mentioning how companies can contribute to this common objective, with the outsourcing service to companies such as Hidronor, should they need to increase their own capacities.
In this sense, the company provides comprehensive services for the management and treatment of waste generated in construction, along with a circular economy increase in Chile. And since they are in charge, among other treatments, the recovery of waste oils used to produce alternative fuel, which is subsequently used by cement companies. Likewise, they also do it with solvent and paint residues, plastic and metal containers, etc., which are recycled or have a second useful life after the treatment.
Thanks to these sustainable services, companies can achieve their sustainability goals and comply with current regulations, therefore ensuring good performance in the country.
We invite you to review our complete offer of construction waste management and treatment services here.
