In compliance with the UNEP Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (the main international agreement established to control polluting substances), Hidronor has positioned itself in the industry as the pioneer company in offering the service for the elimination of Persistent Organic Compounds (POPs) in Chile. .
The company has more than 25 years of experience in the export of this type of waste (organochlorine compounds of great toxicity) for which there are no treatment technologies in our country. To date it has added more than 2,000 tons. of waste whose disposal has been managed through its export and incineration service in the abroad, using technologies of high technical and environmental standard.
It is worth mentioning that Organic Compounds Persistent (POPs) are used in various applications, both industrial as agricultural: biocides, chemical substances of industrial origin (PCB) and other substances whose origin occurs in natural combustion processes and / or anthropogenic, such as dioxins, furans, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HAP).
These compounds have particular characteristics physical and chemical effects that, once released into the environment, produce harmful as persistence (low biodegradation capacity); bioaccumulation (concentrations higher in the upper levels of the food chain) and toxicity.
