This initiative is the first of its kind, being a milestone for sustainability that we carried out with the specialized support of Geociclos, marking an important step towards the “Zero Waste to Landfill” policy.

“Zero Waste to Landfill” is one of the main goals in the BASF, whose objective is that your waste does not go to final disposal, but rather can be recycled or recovered in some way. In this context, at Hidronor - which for several years has had a comprehensive contract for waste management at BASF Concón - we proposed the implementation of a composting project, which was inaugurated on August 13, 2024. 

This initiative – the first of its kind carried out for one of our clients, and which marks an important milestone in the collaboration – consists of the installation of six compost bins within the BASF site in Concón, which are designed to process organic waste, mainly coming from the plant's casino. In addition, to develop it successfully, we carry out training for BASF personnel on the correct management and operation of composting.

To carry out this project at Hidronor we have the collaboration of Geociclos, a company specialized in composting projects. After several stages of planning and preparation, including the project quote and the award of the contract by BASF, we finally managed to install the composters and began the operation of the composting system.

Proper waste management

The inauguration of the project was attended by key representatives from BASF, Hidronor and Geociclos. Patricio Videla, Hidronor contract supervisor; and Daniela Mancilla, contract administrator, led the delegation of our company at the event.

With the implementation of this project we hope that BASF Concón will be able to significantly reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, aligning with its sustainability objective. For our part and in line with our commitment to sustainability, we will continue to monitor the development of composting and provide the necessary technical support to ensure that this pilot project is a success and we can replicate it in other BASF facilities, as well as other clients.
