During the informative seminar “Extended Responsibility of the Producer, the Containers and Packaging Sector”, About the new Recycling Law, the Minister of the Environment, Marcelo Mena, highlighted how significant it is to understand said regulation, stating that the objective today is "to work with the private sector so that this public initiative becomes a pillar of the new form of development, production and sustainable consumption towards green growth."
In the same way, he clarified how important it is to align economic and environmental objectives to promote sustainable development and how much the Recycling Law will help in this task, since they hope that this economic instrument will gradually reduce the generation of waste in Chile. “In our country, each person generates 1.1 kilos of waste. The goal is to generate more profits with less waste ”, he concluded.
Finally, Minister Mena reminded the attendees that the deadline for manufacturers and producers to declare the number of priority products that they will put on the market is until July 31.
