The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) adopted a new strategic plan, which among other things, seeks to reduce the environmental disaster risks, through adaptation to climate change and sustainable development.

During the quadrennial Congress of this same organization, it was highlighted that the impact of extreme weather will be felt more and more frequently due to climate change, and that it could have serious consequences.

Although it should be noted that there is still time to prevent irreversible damage, through correct management of dangerous residues, and taking serious action on it. This plan is expected to be in effect from 2016 to 2019.
